The Community Transportation Driver position is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for clients to and from the mental health clinic, appointments in the community, and related services. The driver will operate and maintain an assigned agency vehicle, adhering to agency policy and procedure in the vehicle's operation and maintenance. In addition to the transportation duties, this role provides administrative support to clinic operations to ensure efficient service delivery and a positive client experience. This position requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to interact with individuals experiencing mental health symptoms in a compassionate and respectful manner. The driver is responsible for fostering an environment that supports person-centered recovery practices and trauma-informed care.

You will get to:

  • The driver is responsible for accurate and organized time management
  • Entering the transportation schedule in the Scheduler daily
  • Use effective communication skills with team members, community members, and those served.
  • Maintain transportation logs and provide timely documentation of all services
  • Follow all traffic laws, agency transportation policies, and confidentiality standards.
  • Ensure clients arrive at appointments on time and return safely.
  • Must maintain a clean, safe, and mechanically sound vehicle, performing inspections as necessary and reporting all issues to the clinic director in a timely manner.
  • Driver follows agency policy and procedures regarding vehicle operation, maintenance, and client transport.
  • Must show and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Provide front office and administrative support, including answering calls, scheduling appointments, and helping manage client paperwork and forms.
  • Support the clinic with general clerical tasks, such as copying, scanning, and preparing documents.
  • Provide effective and professional communication to team members and those served
  • Stay current on all required training courses, including Defensive Driving

You'll definitely need:

  • High school diploma, GED, or competency test with 3 letters of recommendation.
  • To have a valid Texas State Driver's License.
  • To have current automobile insurance.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years of experience transporting individuals using a company or personal vehicle with no previous violations.
  • Experience working within a team setting.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
  • Have a working knowledge of the transportation area and resources locally available.

  • Guards' client confidentiality by being knowledgeable of and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Interact calmly and respectfully with individuals experiencing mental health challenges
  • Adhere to all Hill Country MHDD policies and procedures.
  • Must become certified in PMAB, First Aid, and CPR within three months of employment and maintain certification without interruption thereafter.
  • Travel as required for service delivery and professional development.
  • Driving company or personal vehicle as required for service delivery and professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager/Director.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinic Director or Sheriff.
