Help us help others:

The Grant Accountant oversees and maintains grant revenues and expenditures, implements revenue controls, and ensures the timeliness and accuracy of grant reimbursement requests and financial reports. Provide feedback to management regarding the grant's financial status.

You will get to:

•   Monitor and review grant expenditures for authenticity, compliance with grant guidelines and regulations, and adherence to budgetary restrictions.
•   Generate and submit timely interim and final financial reports to oversight agencies. Follow up as necessary to ensure accurate submission of data.
•   Schedule periodic meetings and/or training with grant management staff to review, analyze, and plan activities to ensure compliance with grant restrictions and expenditure guidelines, communicating with budget administrators and clerical staff to ensure accuracy of the information reported.
•   Provide assistance and financial expertise to the grant writing staff to effectively develop grant applications and implement awarded grants.
•   Maintain a system of documentation to support grant expenditures, reports, and other documents relating to grants, and ensure that all records generated are retained in accordance with Agency policy and oversight agency guidelines.
•   Prepare and submit monthly reimbursement requests, including SAMHSA and private foundation grants.
•   Prepare for submission quarterly Medicaid Administrative Claiming reimbursement requests and the annual cost report for HHSC.
•   Prepare adjusting entries and generate budget adjustments, as necessary.
•   Participate in information gathering and preparation of reports and schedules, as necessary to prepare for oversight agency reviews and audits.
•   Assist external and regulatory auditors, as requested
•   Recommend accounting operations policies and procedures; develop written guidelines and training materials to ensure compliance with State financial policies/procedures.
•   Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of laws relating to accounting and grant operations practices.
•   Maintain confidentiality of information.

You'll definitely need:

• Current experience in accounting, auditing, finance, hospital, medical, or budget processes.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited university with coursework in accounting.
• CPA Candidate preferred.
• 2 to 3 years of governmental or non-profit experience preferred.
• To have and maintain a valid Texas State Driver's License.
• To have current automobile insurance and the ability to travel when necessary.
