The Next Step LPHA (Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts) position is funded through a Health and Human Services Grant in collaboration with the Crisis Center of Comal County and NB Housing Partners. This position is responsible for providing services and support to adults with mental health conditions who are without consistent and safe housing to reach their vision of recovery. The LPHA will lead the mental health team, made up of two mental health care coordinators, in providing expedited and targeted mental health treatment, from the homeless shelter or street-based, in collaboration with the established community partners, as well as the Comal MH Clinic. The Next Step LPHA is required to collect, analyze, and report data collected through this project, with consideration of firm grant-based deadlines. This position requires a high degree of independent work and flexibility. Typical hours are 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, but must be flexible to best accommodate the needs of those served.

You will get to:

  • Promote and maintain a trauma-informed, person-centered environment for all clientele and staff.
  • Provide clinically appropriate therapy to adults, either individually or in a group/family format.
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial intake assessments to determine the need for mental health services.
  • Complete ongoing diagnostic updates and assessments as needed.
  • Ensure all individuals have a current Person-Centered Recovery Plan (PCRP) that includes counseling as an intervention.
  • Participates in the development of PCRP with an assigned Recovery Coach or develops PCRP when appropriate.
  • Does collaborative and concurrent documentation for therapy and assessments at least 95% of the time.
  • Documents all services to include kept appointments, no-shows, cancellations by individuals and self.
  • Assures quality service for all clients by enforcing rules, regulations, and legal requirements with clients, documenting the events of a therapeutic process in a confidential manner.
  • Responsible for the client no-show rate of no higher than 25% and staff kept appointment rates no lower than 90%.
  • Enters and updates the schedule in the electronic health record scheduler to reflect real-time information.
  • Participate in professional training (priority is CBT, CPT, and TF-CBT) and staff development training.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, case conferences, inter-disciplinary team meetings, and individual/group supervision.
  • Assists in the provision of clinical supervision to the Qualified Mental Health Providers and other staff by way of in-service training, presentations, workshops, etc.
  • Maintain current professional licensure in good standing without lapses.
  • Maintains CANS/ANSA certification.

You'll definitely need:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, and social work.
  • Must have a current Texas state-issued LPC, LCSW, or LMFT License.
  • Three years preferred clinical experience providing therapy to children, adolescents with serious emotional disturbance, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Two years preferred clinical experience in a position responsible for making diagnosis determinations.
  • Must be able to meet Hill Country MHDD Centers' standard for CBT competency within 1 year of hire.
  • A valid Texas State Driver's License.
  • Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel when necessary.

We'll also want you to:

  • Provide therapy services in multiple settings.
  • Provide biopsychosocial assessments in person or via tele-video.
  • Provide diagnostic evaluations and person-centered/family-centered recovery planning.
  • Participate in clinical supervision as scheduled.
  • Participate in ongoing training conference calls as needed to gain certifications in CPT, TF-CBT, or CBT.
  • Collaborate with multiple service providers to coordinate quality care.

We can pay you:

$27.88 - $31.37 per hour and benefits
